The HeartStart HS1 is a general public defibrillator which complies with ERC 2005 recommendations:
1 shock and compressions/ventilation ratio of 30:2. So simple to operate that someone witnessing a cardiac arrest with minimal training is potentially able to save the life of a colleague, friend, family member or member of the public. Calm instructions in a natural voice guide the first aider through the emergency defibrillation and CPR stages. The user is guided effectively not just to deliver the shock but also through cardio-pulmonary resuscitation if he/she wishes: mouth to mouth and cardiac massage. A reminder is given about the massage procedure and frequency. Studies show that HeartStart HS1 is simpler and safer to use than other automatic defibrillators: the shock is only delivered safely once the witnesses and first aid team around the user are alerted. Full automatic tests confirm HeartStart’s vital functions daily, weekly and monthly to ensure that HeartStart is always ready for an emergency saving procedure. It uses a low energy, biphasic SMART® wave compensated for trans-thoracic impedance. This is the only wave validated by the A.H.A. (American Heart Association) as class 2a.
This technology has been used in these SAD for years and the thousands of instruments sold have provided this validation through very many clinical studies published in the best scientific journals.
